Public Records Requests

As a public institution, Nevada State University must provide public records upon request in accordance with the Nevada Public Records Act (NRS 239.010 ), which guarantees access to public records of the state government.

What are public records?

Nevada Revised Statutes interpret “public records” to include all work-related records that are prepared, maintained, or stored by the university, including, but not limited to, contracts, reports, presentations, and electronic (emails, texts, chats, etc.) and other correspondence related to university operations.

How do I submit a public records request?

Although the request need not be in writing, the requester should submit a written request to better facilitate the process. You can submit a request for public records via email to: [email protected]

What do I do if I receive a public records request?

The Office of General Counsel at Nevada State University is responsible for responding to requests made under the Nevada Public Records Act with limited exceptions.  All requests for public records must be submitted immediately to the Office of the General Counsel at [email protected].
