Henderson, Nev. The school year has officially begun, and students are taking classes in Nevada State College’s first permanent building on the school’s509-acre campus site located at 1021 East Paradise Hills Dr., just off Nevada State Drive in Henderson.
To celebrate the opening of the new Liberal Arts & Sciences building, an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Thursday, Oct. 2.
Nevada State College President Dr. Fred Maryanski will speak at the ceremony. Students, faculty, members of the Board of Regents and local public officials will attend the ceremony. Tours of the new building and demonstrations of state-of-the-art technology will be given.
As our first permanent building, the Liberal Arts & Sciences building has set the standard for the rest of our campus as we continue to grow and expand, Maryanski said. We are building Nevada State College one building at a time. This provides us with the rare opportunity to design each building with students of the 21st century in mind, and as we continue to grow, the entire community will benefit.
The new 42,000-square-foot building boasts state-of-the-art equipment, 42 offices, four fully equipped science labs and several classrooms in addition to a functioning seismograph one of only 10 in the state (most of which are located in the north). The LAS building also allows students to delve even further into the unique research that is already taking place in the college.
Building tours start at 5:30 p.m., and the ribbon cutting ceremony, scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m., will take place in the parking lot of the Liberal Arts & Sciences building.
Nevada State College is a comprehensive four-year public college offering degrees including nursing, business administration and education. NSC’s main campus is located in the foothills of Henderson and provides progressive bachelor’s programs in several in-demand fields of study. Nevada State College offers a low student-to-professor ration and competitive tuition rates.
