Program Overview
Learn the caring sciences.
With the intentional structuring of the curricula in the caring science based upon the work of nurse theorist Dr. Jean Watson, our faculty are here to support you on your journey to academic and professional success. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Nevada State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Full-Time Track
The Full-Time Track is the traditional route for new and transfer students to become professional nurses. Students in this track attend on a full-time basis for four semesters.  After completion of the program, graduates are qualified to take the registered nurse licensing examination (NCLEX-RN).
Part-Time Track
The part-time track is completed in eight consecutive semesters, including summers. It is designed for individuals who have obligations that impact their ability to attend the rigorous full-time academic schedule of the full-time track. Students attend class, lab, and practicum two to three days per week, usually Thursday through Saturday during both day and evening hours. After completion of the program, graduates are qualified to take the registered nurse licensing examination (NCLEX-RN).
Career Outlook
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing prepares students for a dynamic and rewarding career in healthcare, providing the skills and knowledge needed to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in a variety of clinical settings. With a focus on patient advocacy, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making, nursing graduates are well-equipped to work as registered nurses, care coordinators, public health nurses, or clinical educators.
Whether supporting patients at the bedside, leading community health initiatives, or advancing nursing practice through research, a Nursing BS empowers graduates to make a lasting difference in individual lives and the broader healthcare system.
