Welcome back, Scorpions! We’re excited to kick off the school year with our Welcome Weeks events. These weeks are packed with activities designed to help you settle in, connect with fellow students, and make the most of your time here.

Donut Stress

Location: Scorpion Den

Celebrate the first day of classes with the Office of Student Life and the Marydean Martin Library! Stop by the Scorpion Den on the first floor of the RSC building for custom NS Pinkbox Donuts. After you grab your donut, head upstairs to the library on the 2nd floor for coffee and tea!

Ready Set Go(LD)

Location: Basketball Court

Join us for an all new Black vs Gold event where all are invited to defend the honor of their respective teams. This event will be an exciting, timed obstacle course at the basketball courts and turf. Show off your skills and just have fun! Come out and support your team and enjoy the rest of the festivities that come with welcome week!

Be Involved Fair

Location: Plaza/Ballrooms

Learn about all things campus involvement! Stop by for free, exclusive Nevada State swag, and explore how you can get involved with departments and clubs! Don’t see something that interests you? Stop by the Office of Student Life table to find out how you can start your own club!

Scorpion Kickoff

Location: Plaza

It’s time to celebrate the completion of your first week at NS by coming to our annual Scorpion Kickoff! Join us for exclusive NS swag, food trucks, a DJ, tie-dye, outdoor games, colorful photo-op locations, and more!

Did you know that 1 in 5 Nevadans are immigrants? Whether we come from immigrant families or are immigrants ourselves, there’s a lot to celebrate about our experiences and cultures! Join us to meet other immigrant and undocumented students on campus. We’re celebrating with activities and all things food. All are welcome!

Free Fest: Library Open House

Location: Library (Rogers Student Center 2nd Floor)

Free Giveaways! Free Services! Free Snacks! Visit the Marydean Martin Library to enjoy snacks and giveaways, make your own button or magnet, and learn about what’s new at the library. Explore our beautiful space and learn about free services that can save you time and money—including laptops, ebooks, research help, and more. Our friendly staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Interested in meeting other First Gen students? Join us for resources, activities, and free food in a laid-back environment. Allies are encouraged to attend.At Nevada State, we define a “first-generation college student” as students whose parents/guardians did not complete a 4 year college degree in the United States.

Alternative Fall Break Info Session

Location: Virtual

Drop in or stay a while to get information on this unique volunteer opportunity over Nevada Day weekend from October 24-27. We’ll be traveling to Lake Mead National Recreation Area to support litter clean-up and vegetation management, take guided hikes to learn about the park’s geology and wildlife, help staff monitor wildlife, and work with the public to support park stewardship. Plus, plenty of free time to explore the park at your leisure!
