Orientation
New Student Orientation (NSO)
Attending college is a momentous occasion in your life. We recognize that this time can be fun and exciting but is also a bit scary. Orientation programs at Nevada State are designed to assist you with the transition process to college. Orientation is the first building block to develop the traits necessary to be successful in your Nevada State collegiate experience.
New First-Year Students (Mandatory)
- Build connections with the college community
- Engage with campus resources
- Experience the student life of a true Scorpion
Attending orientation is mandatory for all first-year students. In addition to attending one of the below Orientation dates, first year students MUST attend the First Year Fest on Friday, August 25, 2023. More information on this event will be provided to students via email. Students will receive reminders consistently until they complete registration for both events.
Spring 2024 Orientation
Be sure to check your Nevada State emails. Spring 2024 new student orientation dates are coming soon!
Changes to Your Fall Schedule
At Nevada State College we want to do everything we can to put you on a degree pathway to success. In doing so, we need to ensure that you are taking courses that apply toward the completion of a declared program of study (in this case, a major or minor). If the schedule created for you does not work due to extenuating circumstances, you may petition the Academic Advising Center for a schedule change. You may request a schedule change here.
New Transfer Students
Transfer Student Orientation is designed for students who are transferring to NSC from a different institution or who are returning to NSC after an extended leave of absence. The Transfer Student Support Hub serves as an important virtual platform for new transfer students to ease the transition to NS. Through interaction with the Transfer Student Support Hub, students will:
- Learn information about important campus resources at NS
- Find ways to become engaged with student life at NS
All newly admitted transfer students must meet with an academic advisor. Please click this LINK for additional information.
