Biography

In my home state of New Jersey, I earned my B.S. in Biology from Montclair State University. I moved to Las Vegas in 2013 when accepted as a graduate student at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After receiving my M.S. in Microbiology, I worked as an instructor for microbiology labs and lectures, and as research assistant in a microbial ecology lab. In the tenure of my career, my research interests have explored a diverse collection of foci, which cover the development of phage therapy, the ecology of microbes living in geothermal hot springs, the role of the gut microbiota in infectious disease, and the effect of childhood infections on adulthood metabolic syndrome. My current aspirations include completing my PhD in Public Health with an emphasis in Epidemiology. I enjoy research, but I also love teaching science! For over a decade, I have mentored more than a dozen undergraduate researchers and have taught tens of students in intro biology and microbiology courses. In joining the Nevada State community as a Lecturer of Human Health Sciences, it is my hope to facilitate learning by supporting students to pursue their passions, gain the knowledge they need to become more than competent professionals, and prepare to make meaningful contributions to the world of health and science. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my three kids, exercising, reading, or taking a class at my local ballet studio.
