I am a scientist and educator with expertise in microbial ecology, aquatic ecology, and undergraduate STEM education. My research focuses on understanding microbial communities in the context of ecosystem processes in aquatic environments, applying rigorous field and laboratory methods to address questions with environmental and societal relevance.
As a college educator, I am committed to integrating authentic research experiences into the curriculum, creating opportunities for students to engage in inquiry-driven, hands-on science. I design learning environments that emphasize critical thinking, data analysis, scientific communication, and collaborative problem-solving, enabling students to develop the skills and confidence needed for success in research and scientific careers.
My professional interests include microbial and aquatic ecosystem dynamics, agroecology, evidence-based teaching practices, and the development of course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). I value interdisciplinary collaboration and enjoy partnering with colleagues, students, and community organizations to advance scientific discovery while fostering the next generation of scientists.
