Dr. Samantha Jewell has been at Nevada State since 2015 and regularly teaches Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology Lecture and Laboratory courses. During her time at NS, she has obtained $3.65M National Science Foundation (NSF) and other grant dollars to support STEM student and faculty development. Currently, Dr. Jewell serves as director of a $2M dollar NSF S-STEM funded Mentoring to Accelerate Retention and Change Outcomes in Science (MARCOS) Scholar Program. The MARCOS Program provides scholarships for low income STEM students interested in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Psychology. Students are eligible for up to $15,000 scholarships, based on their unmet financial need determined by FASFA, access to dedicated faculty mentors, professional development, social opportunities, and blocked STEM courses. The program will be accepting applications for its 3rd cohort February 2027. See more details here: https://nevadastate.edu/academics/provost/marcos-scholars/
