Service Learning
Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence
Coordinated Community Learning
In collaboration with various academic departments, the Office of Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives (CEDI) is working to provide students with opportunities to engage in service-learning courses. These rigorous academic courses promote citizenship, leadership, and offer community-based learning experiences. Courses encompassing community learning will meet the research interests of faculty members and students and; moreover, the needs and priorities of our community partners.
The Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence, Dr. Chris Garrett, is working with CEDI to educate and train Nevada State faculty on how to properly prepare, instruct, and assess a service learning curriculum. This relationship ensures our campus has the supports needed to access and implement service learning in both the curricular and co-curricular settings.
Please refer back to this page for updates on future virtual workshops that will train our campus on how to administer a service learning course as well as the documents required to engage in field-based experiential learning.
