The City of Henderson has notified Nevada State University of a significant road closure that will impact all drivers attempting to use Nevada State Drive near campus between tomorrow morning and Monday morning.
Specifically, starting at 5 am on Thursday, August 7th, Nevada State Drive will be closed between Conestoga Way (the intersection) and the driveway entrance to the baking company through 6 am on Monday, August 11th. All traffic from Nevada State Drive heading south towards campus will be redirected to Conestoga Way, which will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Expect delays if you attempt to take this route, and follow the direction of posted flaggers.
To avoid the road closure and associated delays on Conestoga Way, drivers are encouraged to take one of the following alternative routes to campus (from I-11 South) between Thursday and Monday morning:
(1) Old Vegas Trail
• Exit I-11 at Wagon Wheel/Nevada State Drive and turn LEFT onto Wagon Wheel Drive.
• Turn RIGHT onto Old Vegas Trail
• Turn RIGHT onto East Paradise Hills Drive.
(2) Dawson Avenue
• Exit at Railroad Pass Casino Road and turn RIGHT
• Turn RIGHT onto Dawson Avenue
• Turn LEFT onto East Paradise Hills Drive
Those needing to access the Dawson Building can take East Paradise Hills Drive to Nevada State Drive.
City of Henderson has informed us that this is an accelerated process to minimize construction-related delays as we get closer to school starting on August 25th. We will provide more updates on remaining work and potential detours as needed.
