Open Enrollment for the Public Employees Benefits Program (PEBP) and Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) benefits takes place each year from May 1–31.

Welcome to Open Enrollment
During open enrollment May 1–31, 2024, benefits-eligible employees can make changes to their benefits offered through the Public Employee Benefits Program (PEBP) and Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
Before making changes, please review your current benefit elections to determine if you would like to make any changes.
Action Items for Benefits-Eligible Employees
During the open enrollment period, all benefits-eligible employees should review the following:
Current benefit elections
- View the PEBP E-portal and Workday websites to view elections.
NSHE FSA medical and dependent care accounts do not automatically renew. You must re-enroll in your accounts to continue participation in the new plan year. If you do not re-enroll, your FSA medical and dependent care accounts will end on June 30, 2024. The next opportunity to enroll in an FSA will be during the next open enrollment or if you have a qualifying event.
Emergency contact information
- Log into Workday.
- In the top right corner, select your name and then “View Profile.”
- From the top left corner of your Profile page, select “Actions” (under your name) and hover over Personal Data.
- Select “View My Emergency Contacts.”
- If changes are needed, select “Edit.”

Critical Illness Insurance
- NSHE offers critical illness insurance through Metlife. View the Metlife Critical Illness Plan Summary for more information and enroll through Workday.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance
- NSHE offers low and high plan health indemnity insurance through Metlife. View the Metlife Hospital Indemnity Insurance Plan Summary for more information and enroll through Workday.
- PEBP offers low and health plan health indemnity insurance through The Standard. View The Standard’s Low Plan Details and High Plan Details for more information. You may complete enrollment through the PEBP E-Portal.
Long-Term Disability
- If you are in an academic or administrative position that’s employed at 50% FTE or more, NSHE automatically enrolls you into an employer paid long-term disability plan through UNUM. View the UNUM Disability Insurance page for more information.
- PEBP offers long-term disability insurance through The Standard to academic, administrative, and classified staff. View The Standard’s Group Long-Term Disability Insurance Details for more information. You may complete enrollment through the PEBP E-Portal.
Personal Legal Plan
- NSHE offers personal legal plan insurance through Metlife. View the MetLife Legal Plans page for more information and enroll through Workday.
- PEBP offers personal legal plan insurance through LegalEase-Nationwide. View the LegalEase State of Nevada page for more information and enroll through the PEBP E-Portal.
Short-Term Disability
- NSHE offers short-term disability insurance through American Fidelity. View the American Fidelity Disability Income Insurance page for more information and enroll through Workday.
- PEBP offers short-term disability insurance through The Standard. View their Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance Details for more information and enroll through the PEBP E-Portal. Please note: You are not eligible for this insurance if you are insured under another Short-Term Disability insurance plan, a temporary or seasonal employee, a full-time member of the armed forces of any country, a leased employee, or an independent contractor.
Term Life Insurance
- NSHE Offers term life insurance through Western Insurance Specialties. View their Nevada System of Higher Education Plans page and their Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance Details for more information. You may enroll through Workday.
- PEBP offers term-life insurance through The Standard. View their State of Nevada Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance for Active Members page for more information and enroll through the PEBP E-Portal.

Auto/Home Insurance
PEBP offers auto/home insurance through Liberty Mutual Insurance. View the Liberty Mutual PEBP page for more information or call 1-800-298-8018 to discuss rates with a live agent. You may enroll through the PEBP E-Portal.
ID Theft Protection
PEBP offers ID theft protection insurance through ID Watchdog. View the Nevada PEBP+ Voluntary Benefits page for more information and enroll through the PEBP E-Portal.
Pet Insurance

Cancer Care
NSHE offers cancer care insurance through American Fidelity. View the American Fidelity website for more information and enroll through Workday.
Flexible Spending Account
NSHE offers flexible spending accounts through ASIFlex. Visit the HSA vs FSA Accounts page for more information. To waive, cancel, or re-enroll in your flexible spending account, log into Workday to submit your open enrollment change by May 31.
Note: The NSHE FSA is administered by ASIFlex, not by PEBP or the State of Nevada. Please do not fill out the PEBP’s FSA enrollment form.
