Executive Vice President
Major: Communications & History
Minor: Business & Social Justice
Being able to provide support to students and provide them with information and resources would be why I joined and loved being apart of NSSA. I’ve always wanted to make a positive difference within my community and eventually the world. Making a change is never easy but here is the beginning to a never ending journey.
Major: Education & Psychology
Minor: Spanish & Creative Writing
Other Positions: Education Mentor
I am someone who believes in speaking up for others. As someone who is learning how to, I want to inspire others to do the same, so I join NSSA to become that voice for those students. Some personal hobbies of mine are singing, dancing, and writing. After I graduate I hope to have my own 4th or 5th grade classroom when I can continue to inspire others!
Sergeant At Arms
Major: Business Administration
My goals after graduation include finding a job and saving up some money. Once I have enough saved up, one of my various dream goals is to go to grad school to achieve a PHD if the opportunity arises.

Melissa Hernandez is a first generation, queer, Latinx student in the Deaf Studies Program. They are passionate about supporting students on campus by providing them with peer-support services. They are not only the VP of Funding, they are also an ASL Tutor/Tutor Mentor on campus, and the President of Voice Off Hands On Club. In their current role, they have worked intensively to bring awareness to their committee’s resources to be able to provide funds to support the academic success of the NSC student body. They strive to grow as an individual, but to also have others grow with them along the way.
Vice President of Public Relations
I joined NSSA to be an advocate for my fellow students and to make some changes on things/structures that needed to be changed. I have been in NSSA for 3 years now. One of my main goals after graduation is to get a job that I’m curious, love and passionate about!
Major: Secondary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics
Minor: Communication & Psychology
When I came to NSC in 2018, I quickly noticed that NSC placed an emphasis on meeting the needs of the students & encouraging student engagement. The staff was supportive & inclusive of all students that came on campus and/or took classes online. As time went on, I began to notice NSSA’s constant presence in social activities for students as well as being the voice of the general student population. I wanted to be a part of that. I also wanted to join NSSA to give back to NSC and further my leadership skills. So in the summer of 2021, I became a member of NSSA and the rest is history.
Hello! My name is Gisela. I’m a full-time Nursing student and I’ve been a member of NSSA for 6 months. I first heard of NSSA through the events that they would host and I always thought how great it was to have an organization at school that was made for the students. I joined NSSA to become an active member of the school and community. It has been an honor to act as the voice of the students and to create events to bring Scorpions together, even in times like this. Some of my hobbies include spending time with my birds and traveling to tropical places.
Major: Criminal Justice
Other Positions: Peer Mentor
Hi my name is Cassidy and I join an NSSA because I’ve always loved being part of student government even when I was in high school. I have only been apart of NSSA for about a semester so I’m still pretty new and learning. Other than my involvement with an NSSA I am also a peer mentor at the school so you’ll see me around campus pretty much every day. When I’m not at school I’m usually at the park skateboarding or hanging out with my friends.
Major: Criminal Justice
Other Positions: Vice President of IGNITE Chapter at NSC
I joined NSSA because I wanted to assist in representing the student body at NSC. I wanted to ensure our students’ voice was always heard. I have been on NSSA for almost two years. I have gotten the opportunity to be part of different committees and multiple task forces. It is an honor to help create a sense of belonging for all our students through various forms. I would like to attend law school upon graduating from NSC. I would like to advocate for individuals who have been victimized and feel silenced. My hobbies include binge-watching Netflix and spending time with my loved ones.
Minor: Deaf Studies
Other Positions: RISE Peer Mentor
RISE Peer Mentors have been temporarily using the NSSA office. I have been in there and met most of the NSSA members. I have helped them set up a few events. I joined because I was already in office and helping out. Now I get to help create events instead of just helping set up once in a while.
Kevin Osorio Hernandez
Major: History Pre-Law
I joined NSSA to bring a voice of inclusion into the decision making process. I seek to represent the Hispanic and queer communities and bring a voice for them. After I graduate, I plan to become a community advocate for our great state of Nevada.
