Career - Related Course Assignments
The Career Services team is available to support faculty and instructors in creating course assignments that help students gain knowledge and build skills towards their future career. We can provide resources and expertise to ensure your career-related assignments are relevant, meaningful and based in current workforce knowledge and trends. We have helped to create assignments for courses in multiple programs across the institution.

Some assignments we have supported faculty with include but are not limited to:

  • Custom industry interview questions for interview practice via Big Interview
  • Conducting informational interviews (where to find industry professionals, what to ask, how to reflect on the experience)
  • Creating and practicing “elevator” pitches

Please contact our office to discuss course assignments.

This event is open to students, alumni, and faculty/staff. Friends and family are also welcome as long as they are accompanied by an NS student, alumni or faculty/staff with a valid NS ID.

To view the next upcoming JCP Suit Up event, please visit Scorpion Central. The JCP Suit Up is typically hosted once in Fall and once in Spring.

Handshake - NS' Job & Internship Board
Many faculty and staff find it helpful to get their own student account in Handshake. While all students who enroll are automatically set up with an account, faculty and staff are not. To create and request an account:

  1. Go to handshake.nevadastate.edu
  2. Click sign up in the top right
  3. Once you enter your information, please email career@nevadastate.edu and indicate that you are a faculty or staff member requesting access to Handshake. If you do not email us, we will not approve the account. Approval can take up to 2 weeks.

Once your account is created, we are happy to provide an abbreviated training on how to use the platform and share with students.

About Handshake: Handshake is Nevada State’s online internship and job board exclusive for students and alumni. Among institutions that utilize Handshake, it is the #1 way that college students find jobs! In addition to being a job/internship board, students and alumni can also find local and national job-related events such as information sessions and hiring fairs and research employers/companies connected to Nevada State through Handshake.
