Academic Policies

Nevada State University’s academic policies provide the framework for maintaining academic integrity, supporting faculty and student success, and ensuring consistency across programs and operations. These policies guide curriculum development, personnel practices, and day-to-day academic procedures, reflecting the institution’s commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.

 

Academic policies are developed and approved through GP2. The GP2 workflow provides a visual breakdown of decision points at each step.

Academic Personnel Policy

This policy establishes comprehensive guidelines for faculty-related matters, including appointments, promotions, tenure, workload, compensation, and professional conduct, to support faculty development and uphold institutional standards.

Academic Operations Policy

This policy governs the administrative aspects of academic programs, detailing procedures on grading, enrollment, student records, academic standing, and program reviews to ensure consistent and effective academic operations.

Curriculum Policy

This policy outlines the procedures for developing, reviewing, and approving both credit and non-credit academic programs, ensuring they align with the university’s mission, meet academic standards, and address workforce needs.

Research and Grants Policy

This policy provides a framework for conducting research and managing grants, emphasizing ethical standards, compliance with regulations, and the protection of human subjects.

Policies Available for Public Comment

Academic policies are posted for public comment for 30 working days. To provide feedback, review a policy linked below; you can either leave comments and tracked changes in the document or submit your suggestions through the academic policy feedback form. You can only submit comments on one policy at a time, but can fill out the form repeatedly to comment on different policies.

Anyone with a Nevada State email can log in; anonymous comments aren’t accepted, but your contact information will only be seen by the Office of the Provost team managing policy approval logistics.
