Meet our Transfer Specialists

Mission:

The Transfer team provides quality developmental advising and is committed to guiding and empowering students to make informed decisions through their academic journeys, facilitating seamless transfers to Nevada State, and fostering a culture of educational excellence and achievement.

Vision:

By providing quality academic advising, the transfer team aims to capitalize on community college as an access point for students and provide seamless, transparent pathways for transfer students to complete a bachelor’s degree from Nevada State University.

Roles of the Nevada State Transfer Specialists:

• Assist CSN students who intend on transferring to Nevada State upon completion of their Associate’s degree: explaining Nevada State degree requirements and processes.
• Work with CSN academic advisors and counselors to ensure students meet requirements by the most direct path of the intended Associate’s Degree from CSN and the intended Bachelor’s Degree from Nevada State.
• Host Nevada State workshops.

Transfer Specialists

Alicia Cooper: Hi, I’m Alicia! I am a Transfer Specialist in the Academic Advising Center. While I was technically born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, I was raised in Las Vegas and consider myself a true local. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014. Subsequently, I began my journey in Higher Education as a writing and reading tutor at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). It was during this time that I discovered my love for fostering student success and yearned to be in a position where I could help students beyond academics. This led to my transition to CSN’s Academic Advising Team. After serving CSN students for a little over six years, I found my forever home at Nevada State University and have had the pleasure of being a part of the Transfer Team since 2020.  As someone who struggled for many years crossing the college graduation threshold, it is my passion to create a pathway for transfer students that is transparent, sensible, and supportive. Welcome to Nevada State! I look forward to meeting you.

Natasha Cruz: Natasha was born and raised in Guam and holds a Professional Master of Business Administration from the University of Guam. She began her career in higher education in 2008, working with the Guam Small Business Development Center and the School of Business and Public Administration. It was there that she discovered her passion for higher education, while serving in various roles including supporting the Dean, faculty, staff and students with graduate programs, accreditation, assessment, curriculum, articulation, grants, and budget.

Natasha moved to Las Vegas in 2018 and worked at Nevada State University and the College of Southern Nevada. Her personal experience as a first generation, transfer, and non-traditional college student has helped her guide students with the transfer process and take their educational goals to the next level. If you’re planning on transferring, it’s important to plan early and know your options. We look forward to welcoming you at Nevada State University!
