Scorpions Don’t Haze

At NSU, students are encouraged to join organizations as a way to meet fellow Scorpions, explore their interests, and learn new skills. When joining an NSU organization, students should be welcomed warmly, embraced for who they are, and respected with dignity. No Scorpion should be demeaned or harmed while trying to find their place in the NSU community.

As an unproductive and hazardous activity, hazing does not align with the mission and values of Nevada State. Hazing has no place at this university, on or off campus, and is prohibited by the Student Code of Conduct and the NSU Hazing Policy. Additionally, the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act requires certain training and reporting of hazing.

Reports of hazing can be made to the university by clicking here. All reports of hazing are thoroughly investigated by the University Police Department, Student Conduct, and the Office of Human Resources, as applicable.

At NSU, Scorpions watch out for the safety and well-being of other Scorpions by recognizing, intervening, and reporting incidents of hazing. Together, we can work to prevent hazing at NSU.

Stop Hazing Team

NSU has brought together a team of staff from across campus (Conduct, Wellness, Student Life, Athletics, Faculty) with the mission to ensure that students/staff/faculty are made aware of the dangers of hazing. This team works to educate everyone on what hazing is, how to report, and how to support individuals experiencing hazing.
