Workforce Development at Nevada State University is dedicated to advancing Southern Nevada’s workforce through high-quality, responsive programs. We achieve this by engaging with communities, building essential infrastructure, and creating targeted educational programming. As an entrepreneurial and self-supporting department of the University, we collaborate with industry leaders and key business sectors to design and implement customized training curricula that meet current demands to bridge the gap between education and employment. Nevada State Leadership Academy
Nevada State Leadership Academy (NSLA) is composed of two microcredential programs: the Supervisor Bootcamp and the Leadership Academy. Both programs utilize an employer-driven model of curriculum development and allow participants to add several specialty leadership areas to tailor the experience to their particular needs and interests.

Nevada State Cybersecurity
Nevada State Cybersecurity (NSCS) supports the growth of a diverse community of adult learners through innovative, engaging experiences, and professional certifications that promote the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to enhance academic, personal, professional career success while meeting the needs of tomorrow’s information technology workforce.

Scorpion STEAM Academy
Scorpion STEAM Academy (SSA) provides an engaging introductory experience for youth interested in exploring skills and careers. Experienced instructors will guide students through a range of topics within their selected course. Additionally, expert speakers and educational field trips may take students behind the scenes of some of the most innovative and exciting companies within STEAM fields.

Mental Health Skills Training (COMING SOON)
Mental Health Informed Skills Training (MHIST) advances mental health within organizations through a holistic approach that provides specialized mental health training by targetting company culture to cultivate a workplace that prioritzes mental health.

Online Continuing Studies Programs
In partnership with ed2go, we offer flexible online courses that are open enrollment and self-paced. Our online workforce education programming ranges from professional development courses to industry-recognized certifications, courses designed to help individuals gain the skills needed for career success.

Project SANDI
Project SANDI (Supporting and Advancing Nevada’s Dislocated Individuals) aims to build a modern workforce by mapping skills to competencies and credentials. In particular, Project SANDI supports Nevada’s most in-demand occupations through training grants for dislocated and underemployed workers and new job seekers.
