Meet Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater

Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater is a recognized leader in educational advancement and economic development serving as Acting President at Nevada State University.

Dr. Lopez Lasater was appointed by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents to serve as Acting President on October 17, 2025. She has been on the University’s executive team since 2017, most recently as Officer in Charge and Chief of Staff and Strategy.

Dr. Lopez Lasater has been pivotal in shaping and executing the University’s vision and has contributed to its strategic planning and external partnerships, specifically as a leading architect of the SMART Growth Initiative which envisions the development of the University’s 450 acres of vacant land in southeast Henderson. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Nevada State Campus Lands Corporation, a body chartered to guide the development and expansion of the University’s Henderson campus.

Dr. Lopez Lasater has been instrumental in shaping policy, guiding large-scale projects, and securing multi-million-dollar funding for the University. She is a respected member of the community and is recognized for her commitment to student success and open governance, with values centered on transparency, collaboration, innovation, and growth.

Dr. Lopez Lasater holds a Doctoral Degree in Public Policy, a Master’s in Community and Regional Planning, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. Lopez Lasater serves on a variety of community boards and organizations.
