New Students
To avoid delays in receiving your VA education benefits, please follow the steps listed below and submit all required documents.
Summary Of Requirements/Documents:
- Copy of VONAPP or Certificate of Eligibility
- Copy of DD-214 or Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)
- Math/English Placement Scores or ACT/SAT (if applicable)
- Military Transcripts
- Official college/universities transcripts (if applicable)
- VA Enrollment Certification Request form (each semester)
Step 1: Apply And Complete The Following:
Nevada State University Admissions Application

- Visit Nevada State Admissions Application Information. Once there, you will need to select the category that best describes you to ensure we provide the right resources and support for your journey to Nevada State University.

- Please choose the category that best describes you:
- First-Year Student: You have never attended college after graduating from high school or earning a GED.
- Transfer Student: You have attended another college or university after completing high school and are now looking to continue your education at Nevada State University.
- Returning Student: You were previously enrolled at Nevada State University and are now coming back to complete your degree or begin a new program.

- Selecting the correct category ensures your application is processed correctly. If you’re unsure which category applies to you, please contact our Admissions Office for assistance.
Step 2: Submit A Copy Of DD-214 Or Notice Of Basic Eligibility (NOBE).

Step 3: Take Math And English Placement Tests, If Applicable.
- Complete this step if you have not taken any Math and/or English class for college credits.
- SAT and ACT scores may be submitted in lieu of placement testing.
- To sign up for a placement test, please contact the Office of Admissions & Recruitment by email or phone at 702-992-2130.
Step 4: Request And Submit All Sealed (Un-Opened) Official Transcripts From College/Universities Attended And Military Transcripts To:
- Nevada State University, Office of Admissions and Records, 1300 Nevada State Drive, Henderson, NV 89002
- For Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy transcripts, request online through Joint Services Transcripts: https://jst.doded.mil
- For Air Force transcripts, request online through Community College of the Air Force: www.au.af.mil/au/ccaf
New And Continuing Students
Step 5: Schedule An Appointment To Meet With An Academic Advisor To Plan Your Courses And Class Schedules.
- Only courses (including prerequisites) that satisfy requirements for a program of study will be reported to the VA. Call 702.992.2160 or email [email protected] to reach Academic Advising.
Step 6: Register For Classes Online Through MyNevadaState
Step 7: Complete And Submit VA Semester Enrollment Certification Request Form.
- Note: This form must be submitted every semester you wish to use benefits.
