For more details check out How Do I Use Transferology?

Note: If a course equivalency is not listed in Transferology, that does not necessarily mean the course cannot be transferred. It simply means the course has not been evaluated yet. Please refer to the Transfer Credit Evaluation and Petition Process outlined in the section below for next steps.

Transfer Credits Evaluation and Petition Process

The Office of the Registrar conducts initial transfer credit evaluation in accordance with policies established by the university and by the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).

Petition for Curriculum Substitution

A student who wishes to contest the outcome of a transfer course evaluation–such as when a course is not deemed equivalent to a Nevada State University course or does not fulfill a specific requirement– may submit a petition for curriculum substitution to the Records Specialist. Students should meet with their academic advisor prior to submitting the petition. The petition must include relevant supporting documentation to ensure thorough review and consideration of the petition:

  • A syllabus
  • A course description from the term course was taken
  • Any other material that provides context of the course content.

Department/School Review

The Records Specialist will route the petition to the department/school responsible for the course or subject area. The department chair/designee will make the decision to approve/deny the request.

Appeal Process

If the petition is denied:

  1. The student may appeal the decision to the dean of the respective school.
  2. If the dean upholds the denial and the student still disagrees, a final appeal may be submitted to the Provost/designee.
  3. The decision made by the Provost/designee is final.

All denied petitions will include an explanation for the decision via NS-issued student email.

NSHE Level Review

Students who are not satisfied with the final decision by Nevada State may request a review of a transfer credit evaluation by the NSHE Articulation Coordinating committee by submitting the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Credit Request for review. The completed form may be submitted electronically to [email protected], or delivered by mail or in person to:
