Psychoeducational Mental Health Clinic

In This Section

The Nevada State Psychoeducational Mental Health Clinic currently offers psychoeducational evaluations to provide recommendations for both special education eligibility and medically necessary diagnoses. We are a specialized facility dedicated to the evaluation of cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social/emotional conditions that impact a child’s well-being and academic success.

Psychoeducational assessment can help parents figure out why their child is facing barriers at home, at school, and in the community. Evaluation supports a child’s education by using a multidisciplinary approach to better understand behavior and daily functioning. Benefits of evaluation can include identifying a student’s strengths and needs, setting realistic academic expectations, determining the most effective academic environment, and maximizing learning with specific strategies, tools, and resources. Assessment and evaluation helps children gain access to the support and services they need, fostering academic and personal well-being.

Psychoeducational Mental Health Clinic is open Monday-Friday, offering both in-person and virtual appointments to fit client needs. We are located in the Christensen Educational Building on the Nevada State University campus, first floor, suite CEB 107.

We offer psychoeducational evaluations for school-aged children PK-12, age 3-21 who reside in Clark County, Nevada.

Evaluations are offered for suspected Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, and Emotional Disorders.

Disclaimer:
While our clinical psychologist is able to provide a medical diagnosis, seeking our services does not guarantee one will be provided as diagnosis is dependent on results of assessment testing.

Mission

The current mission of the PMHC is to provide mental health services for children in preschool through 12th grade. Through the collaborative efforts of the Nevada State School Psychology training program and community professionals, we provide evaluations of mental health needs as well as supportive services to help clients identify and access local educational and therapeutic resources. Evaluations provide recommendations for both school based and community services. The hope is that providing this service for the Clark County community will facilitate timely access to community and school interventions and foster a comprehensive service environment.
